Love of Money Photobooths
Artgallery ‘Opperclaes’ has invited a group of Dutch (street) artists and collectives to create photobooths within the theme ‘underground versus mainstream’. Visitors are welcomed to be part of the installations and complete the artwork. This concept proven its success before in Opperclaes. The artists participating in this exhibition are Resuk, Dees, Kiki Peeters, Leyp, Lucky Dubz and Anthiconceptie.

Ghettoblaster Gettogether
The habit of collecting ghettoblasters is reserved for a small group of connoisseurs. Nevertheless, this part of the HipHop lifestyle has been an essential element in the golden era of HipHop. With the gathering of fans from across the country, the ghettoblaster will be in the centre of attention again. www.ghettoblastergettogether.com

Workshops

The festival begins with 4 workshops by international top dancers: B-boying, House, HipHop and Popping.

Hit Master Fish-Popping
California native Hitmaster Fish is here to share his expertise in popping. His oldskool style is still very relevant today.

Meech-hiphop
Michel ’Meech’ Onomo from France is teaching hiphop. His experience with mayor artists echoes through in his hiphop workshops.

Neguin-bboying
Neguin from Brazil teaches b-boying. The current BC One champion is one of the most dynamic dancers of his time.

Naim-house
The house workshop is taught by Naim from Lille. This 24-year old Algerian talent is committed to share his knowledge and skills with the world.

Panels

The festival opens with food for thought: Rockin’ chairs is followed by two panel discussions. Both panels are hosted by Shay, radiohost at FunX radio, and supported by images of VJ CandyVisuals.

Streetart vs Grafitti
The first panel is about the relations between street art and graffiti. Artgallery ‘Opperclaes’ provide statements for this discussion. Panelists include Roelof Schierbeek (RSvisuals), Ates (Bad Boyz), Gerben Willers (Showroom Mama) Lady Aiko (JP/NY) and legendary artist Blade- King of Graf (NY).

Talentshows: Sense or nonsense?
With the overload of talent shows the question raises wether they actually make the diffrence. Panelists are Laise Sanches (Adlicious, finalist X-factor), Rudolf Polderman (SYTYCD), Karim Erya (Sei Sei), Niek Traa (Rugged Solutions) and Leandro Vanenburg (Moyo Tribe).

Rockin’ Chairs
Legendary dancers David Colas (FR) and Swiftrock (DU) are here to judge World Bboy Classic and b-girl Hurricane (FR) is here to judge We B* Girlz. During Street Science they’re invited to take a seat in a rocking chair and have a heart to heart with host Andrew van Velthoven. They look back on their careers from both an underground as well as a commercial perspective. Audience participation is essential in  Rockin’ Chairs.

Battles

We B*Girlz
The We B* Girlz Battle is an international 2-on-2 breakdance competition for b-girls. It is an initiative by photographer Martha Cooper and writer Nika Kramer, who previously released the book ‘We B*Girlz’. During Street Science duo’s from all over the world can compete for a place in the world finals at Battle of the Year in Montpellier. Judges include the Finnish b-girl AT, Rabbani, Rotterdams finest, and the French veteran Hurricane.

Total Balance Battle
On saterday the competition starts with a concept battle created by Rotterdams own Wild Willy in collaboration with Total Balance. It‘s a 2 –on- 2 battle with each team consisting of a bboy and a stand-up dancer. The winning team receives a package from Total Balance and 250 euros. DJ Cement and DJ Cutnice bring the heat.

Beat M Up
What once started in the attic of Fes (organizer of Beat M Up) is now an event which has blown up and is making moves beyond the border. Especially for Street Science Beat M Up throws an All Styles Batlle. Beatcreators compete against each other in various musical styles. A versatile beatcreator has the best chance of winning the prize, provided  by A.N.T. clothing.

Sneakermarket

After last year’s success the sneaker market is back on the program. Sneaker enthusiast Sir-Jo assembled collectors and traders from across the country to bring their freshest material. Sneakerfans gather at this market for wheeling and dealing over exclusive new models, vintage sneakers and goodies. Sneakercompany Keep from California is proud to be gaining ground in Europe. To express their appreciation they created a special gift bag for their fans. Show your love and keep on Keepin’ on..

Shows

A Tribute Called Quest
One of the most successful HipHop collectives of all times was initiated in the eighties as HipHop had globally outgrown the cultstatus. A Tribe Called Quest brought something new to the table with their blend of conscious lyrics, jazz samples and break beats. During a Tribute Called Quest, a collective of Dutch MC’s and musicians honor the Tribe with original arrangements of more than two decades of musical heritage. Participating in this project are Gery Mendes, Esperanzah, Pan Afrikans and La Melodia.

Party

Rock Ya Soul Session
‘Before you rock the floor you gotta let the music rock ya soul’. With this motto Soultrotters invites b-boys and b-girls to his Rock Ya Soul Session, a three-hour non-stop cypher jam. Special guests are b-girl Hurricane from Paris and True Rockin Soul from Mannheim. DJ Skeme Richards (USA) and the Schallplattenpolizei bring out the best in a dancer. The king or queen of the cypher gets rewarded with a special prize from Carhartt.

Prince Family vs Jackson Family
This event centres around a battle between two of the most eclectic and innovative artists to date: Michael Jackson and Prince. DJ’s Mr. Speak and  DJ Civil lay down tracks from both MJ’s and Prince’s extensive music catalogus along with tracks of their cohorts like Jermaine Jackson, Vanity 6, Janet Jackson, Sheila E, Jackson 5 etc. No better way to end Street Science and warm up for World Bboy Classic.
